It was very hot, but we managed to have a “cool” first week of school. We are working to be responsible, respectful, safe and kind at BCES.

Getting our Classroom Ready
On Friday, August 20, I was able to visit our classroom for the first time this summer. As you can see in the picture there were lots of boxes to unpack. (60 of them!) I will post more pictures to show you how our class is coming along. You can get a sneak preview on Thursday, August 26th from 3:30 to 5:30.

Rick Charette’s Super Power Concert
On Thursday we went to Hollis Elementary School to see Rick Charette’s Super Power Concert. We were the first school to arrive so we got to help Rick Charette decide which of his Hawaiian shirts to wear for the concert. We sang songs and learned important information for keeping safe and healthy.

Easter Wordle
After writing our journal page we each typed a word from our writing to make this cool wordle! We had fun finding our words.

Making Polygons
On Monday we used straws and twist ties to create various polygons. Please visit our Children’s Work page to view a slideshow of the polygons we created!

Leprechauns
On Wednesday, St. Patrick’s Day, we had a great time making little Leprechaun men and decorating them. We each had 25¢ to spend at the Leprechaun store for decorations. We could purchase stickers for 2¢, wiggly eyes for 10¢ a pair, ribbon for 2¢, yarn for 5¢, pipe cleaners for 5¢, pom poms for 5¢ and feathers for 1¢. We used coins to figure out what we would order. We had to use all our money, no more no less! Check our Children’s Work Page to see more leprechauns!

Lego Lessons
Today we had our first Lego Lesson with Mrs. Burns. We had lots of fun exploring the Legos and making creations with our partners. Our next lesson will be next Friday!

Planetarium
On Tuesday we visited the Planetarium and viewed the program Our Place in Space. It was a wonderful experience and we thank the Buxton PTO for providing the funds for this great educational experience.
